Campaign Summary #31

As soon as the dragon falls, Rhun checks on the party’s health. He’s very concerned for Ariza and lays his hands upon her, and she springs back. He then channels additional energy and heals the rest of the party.

With everyone feeling better, Rhun turns his attention to Fedor. Unfortunately, there’s nothing Rhun can do for him. Rhun says a few words, and Habistaw is sad.

After we decide that we need to bring Fedor back to the bluff, we turn our attention to the dragon’s den

We realize how tired we are after checking out the loot and decide to camp here and take another look at the dragon in the morning

Rem’e and Ariza harvest enough dragon hide to make a medium set of armor and two shields, dragon horns, fangs, teeth, eyes and a pair of claws.

While the butchers are taking care of Frostjaw, Shareen asks Liadan and Rhun to go get the crystals from the tomb, and they return midday with everything needed to close the air gate. Shareen reminds us that the fire gate still needs closed, she takes Rhun to close the last gate on the fire. Habistaw also leaves but comes back with food and fuel so we can eat while we spend one final night on the dragon’s ice island. With the gates closed, we fear these floating islands aren’t going to last long. Shareen assures us of our safety, she points out that the ceiling of the bubble is changing to rock, starting to feel like a cave – showing the bubble is becoming stable.

We have the sled, and plan on using it to carry Fedor’s body back. And we have one last meal around the fire and of course the conversation turns to to the treasure.

Ariza starts the conversation by saying we should send some of the loot back to the bluff with Fedor. Rhun says that he hopes to give the statue to the temple back in Amber.

Rem’e asks Shareen what from the board she’s like since she’s lost her home, Shareen says that she’s looking forward to getting back to the prime. Liadan immediately stand up and is surprised “you mean, after all this you’re not staying here!? What about your research?”

The rest of the party takes a step back – feeling Liadan’s energy. Shareen says of course her research will continue – she’ll stay for a few days. Under her breath, Ariza growls “Well, I guess were not getting that key.”

She goes on to say that she’s love a little cash in hand to go back to the prime. Habistaw and Mirreliel say that they don’t need the magic items and dividing the coins and gems evenly, including sending a portion to Fedor’s family in the bluff. That all seems very fair so Rem’e takes that headband, takes off his hat, and adjusts his hair to work with the new accessory.

And then Rem’e asks Habistaw if he was planning on taking a caravan back to the bluff, and if he could make sure Fedor reached his home. Habistaw said that caravans don’t run often this time of year. Rhun casts gentle repose and we prep Fedor on the sledge to take him back through the tomb tomorrow, and we turn in for the night.

In the middle of our sleep, we are woken by an icy rain. We decide to stop sleeping in the half-igloo den and move out under the open bubble-sky to finish our night’s rest.

When we wake the next morning, we realize that our island is no longer an island and we’ll be able to walk back to the tomb gate. We start making our way back, passing Shareen’s ruined tower on the way. Shareen starts talking about her plans – she’s excited to see a sunrise. And she’s hoping to explore and find another elemental bubble, but she’s hoping to further her research in the prime.
She says she could use some caretakers to make sure the bubble survives. Liadan wishes her luck.

Ariza says we should take on the responsibility of care taking – and we ask Shareen to share the key, and convince her to meet Lao. Ariza tells Shareen that we will follow Shareen’s lead about how much she shares with Lao.

Rhun sets a glyph of warding, setting the password to “Frostjaw,” and Ariza will set a tanglefoot trap on the stairs headed into the tomb. We tell Shareen we’ll be back in three days, and leave the tomb.

When we reach the the surface, Rhun cries out to sarenrae, Ariza breaks into cartwheels 🤸‍♂️ through the graveyard – and then takes a moment to take a look around. She sees fresh snow and estimates that we’ve been gone about three weeks.

We decide to get back to Amber and head off to the witty lion arms, trudging through the snowy landscape. We reach the gates of Amber, and find them closed, and are hailed by a guard. We announce that we are returning and share our names, and note the fallen Fedor.

They open the gates, marveling at our gumption for traveling in this weather. We plan to take Fedor to the temple of sarenrae. Rhun seeks out Vosa Goldenrod. Liadan remind Rhun to only share the short version since we are weary.

Rhun gifts the temple the statue from Frostjaw’s loot. Ariza abruptly asks is is she could buy some healing potions, but none are in stock. Liadan starts heading for the door.

And we head back to witty lion arms. We inquire about rooms for us each, and ask the bartender about Gemma. He says that he hasn’t seen her in a few days and that she closed her bill out.

Rem’e demands a hot bath. We have fine food sent up to the rooms. Ariza is planning on putting on those silk slippers and climbing onto the roof, to appreciate the dark sky and stars.

Over coffee the next morning we set a plan to drop off a deposit to the church of Abadar. Rem’e insists on sending word ahead to the bank that we will drop by later.
