Dillafomra’s Flight

(13th of Lamashan, 625: The heroes have just dispatched the villains at Aunt Dilla’s farm and, amongst other things, recovered a diary of some sort.  After discovering the letters stored within its pages the rest of the journal remains to be perused.  Some of the more interesting entries follow…)

Diary Entry; 25 Arodus, 598

The girl has barely been here two months and she is already a cornucopia of problems.  While I know children can be self-centered this one seems particularly vain. And while cruelty is a virtue, hers has a senseless quality to it that serves no one, not even herself.  She hungers for power but lacks perspective, and while she properly recites her prayers she is insincere.  I fear she lacks the will to embrace the divine, and will never be fully brought into the Faith.

Regardless, I must continue my efforts. I cannot risk the displeasure of my king or my god.  She thinks she has secrets but I have my suspicions about what they are.  The will of Norgorber will bring such hidden knowledge into my keeping, and then I will see her properly cowed.

Witch,

I have you now. You have ferreted out the secret of my identity, but everything about you is laid bare to me.  For all of your supposed faith you are stupid enough to write your secrets in a little book for me to find.  I write this in your own journal so you will know there is no part of you that is safe from me.  Run, half breed, if you think it will save you. I will enjoy the chase before killing you.

Diary Entry; 30 Sarenith, 602

After traveling almost the entire breadth of the Empire I think I have finally escaped pursuit from my enemies.  I have reached the remote, uncultured backwater province of New Albion. Here in the border town of Amber I’ve met a serving woman named Appledore. It was a simple enough lie to claim the same last name, and she believes me to be a long lost relative.  Her family has welcomed me as well.  I think “Aunt Dilla” could do quite well here. Perhaps some of the children could be brought into the faith.  The young girl, Dessa, seems especially bright and may one day make an apt pupil.

Gods damn them all.  Even here I detect the presence of my enemies.  There is a small farming community and military outpost beyond the Ohr called Basilisk Bluff.  I have purchased a small plot of land that should be defensible and far from prying eyes.  Should any of them find me there I will be able to dispose of them without arousing the suspicions of the locals.

Some of the Appledores have moved there as well. Young Dessa has grown into a beautiful and capable young woman, and has just married a nobleman from the Chen family.  She is now well placed as the wife of the local lord.  Very useful!
